Bio E/M Help?

I'm studying for the May 1 SAT II Biology.
In the Taxonomy section, Barron uses the 3 domain, 4 kingdom system. Which means that Barron isn't including Monera as one of the Kingdoms. However, my Princeton Review book uses the 5 Kingdom system, which includes Monera.

Barron says that Monera is split into Archaea and Bacteria (but doesn't even say anything about the characteristics of Kingdom Monera).
PR describes Monera, but includes it with the Fungi, Protista, Plantae, and Animalia.

Which one is right? Barron's or PR?

I would go with PR although you can probably tell which one is right from the question itself. I took Bio M awhile ago but I don’t remember even thinking about the discrepancy. Still, I would go with PR. I don’t remember which review book I used sorry… I think it may have been Barrons actually but I more just did the practice tests than actually USED the book haha.

Monera is an obsolete term. Now, there are three domains: Bacteria, Archaea, and Eukarya. Organisms that used to be in Monera are now split up between Bacteria and Archaea. Domain Eukarya only has four kingdoms: Protists, Fungi, Plantae, and Animalia. So I would say your Barron’s book is correct. This is a tough question though!

Since you said your Barron’s book doesn’t have a lot of info about Monera, you could use PR for the info and Barron’s for the taxonomy.

(This info is from Campbell’s Bio book. I am taking college Bio right now and I’ve taken the Bio SAT II twice. Any further input/corrections would be great!)
