biochem or premed

i having trouble in majors
shouldd i do like economics and do premed
or should i do jjust bio chem
which would help more on mcat?
would biochem help me more in med schoool?

First of all, Duke doesn’t offer a biochemistry major for undergraduates (although there are some biochem courses in the Biology department). Secondly, chill out. Major in what you are most interested in… don’t just do something because it will look “good” to medical schools or because it will help you in the MCAT. Whatever you major in, you’ll have to take the same premed courses anyway (gen chem, orgo, physics, biology, and biochem).

thank u for clarifying this up
btw i rlly enjoy bio and chem so do u have any ideas of a major i should do at duke then?
thank u very much!

I thought you can major in Biology or Chemistry and concentrate in Biochemistry?

Don’t sweat the major thing right now. Chances are, you’ll have a bunch of intro/prerequisites to take anyway before you get to the high level biochem stuff. So just relax and take those intro classes first year and see how you like them. If you want to continue then declare your major at the end of sophomore year. Nothing is set in stone just yet and if you tried, I’m betting you can fill your first year with some general purpose classes that you’ll need to take no matter what and put off really narrowing down your options until later on when you have a better idea.
