D is looking for a college that would be good for possibly biochem or organic chem with the possibility of more than 1 class in botany. Her long-range plans are to get a masters then a PhD in Pharmacognosy. There are no undergrad clear paths to that, so she's looking at a place where she could explore plant science/plant chemistry, phytochemistry, possibly even ethnobotany.
If it helps, she wants a career in a lab setting, developing medicines from plant-based sources. Research schools are higher on her list, but that can be down the line if a school has a strong botany/plant science component to its biochem or other major. Particularly wonderful would be a school that allows an interdisciplinary major. We have Hamilton at the top of her list already. Does anyone have any suggestions?
