I'm a current high school senior starting to apply to colleges. Originally, I was pretty set on being a Biochemistry major and later moving on to med school. Recently, I've been talking to some of my coworkers and family friends who are engineering majors, they said there's better job opportunities in bioengineering than biochemistry. Could I go into bioengineering major and still finish my prerequisites to go to med school? But wouldn't I have a lower GPA by going into bioengineering and lower my chances of med school acceptance? What are some career paths I can go into as a bioengineering major? (I heard you can work on prosthetic and "organ growing"... sounds pretty cool to me)

And isn't acceptance to an engineering college more difficult than letters&science? :(

To give some background, I have a 4.5 weighted GPA, 2020 SAT (which I'm retaking in December btw), and a couple EC including a job as a lab assistant at a chemistry lab. I'm applying to mostly UCs, (my dream being UCLA or Berkeley), and several privates including Cornell, USC, Princeton, and Stanford.

Please help! :( I want the option of entering the engineering world if I decide I don't want to join medical.

P.S. I heard being a girl interested in engineering allows for a lot of scholarships and job opportunities... Idk if this is true, but if it is, what are some of the benefits?
