Biochemistry Major

Hello, I am a Junior in high school and would like to know if I would be award the biochemistry major by FSU if I completed all the requirements, but before graduating high school. I have almost completed all the requirements necessary for said major by FSU standards, through a mix of Dual Enrollments and AP Credits. I would like the opinion of a few of my peers as to whether FSU would award me the major. The credits needed for the major are:

These are credits as of now. I don't plan on taking anymore. I was able to take this many thanks to Florida Virtual School. Now on to my Dual Enrollment classes, which were taken at FSU starting in my sophomore fall semester of highschool, the grade received, and the credit awarded (as of now).

A - Organic Chemistry I - CHM 2210
A - Organic Chemistry II and Lab - CHM 2211, 2211L
A - Analytical Chemistry I and Lab - CHM 3120, 3120L
A - Advanced Analytical Chemistry and Lab (as of now) - CHM 4130, 4130L
A - General Genetics - PCB 3063

If I continue on this path, I will be able to complete the requirements by graduation in 2014. I also have EC such as wrestling and Mu Alpha Theta. I have a 3.9 unweighted GPA and 4.85 weighted, as well as a 2350 on the SAT and 34 on the ACT. Yes, it is VERY hard, but I want to make sure that they will indeed give me my biochemistry major. I would like to read your opinions, thank you.

The Florida State University
FSU Admissions | Credit | AP Credit

O.O umm… just looking at your stats and your long list of AP tests… wow. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. That’s about an average of 7-8 AP courses a year during your freshman and sophmore year. And your SAT score. Amazing.

I’m not sure what you are asking. " I would like the opinion of a few of my peers as to whether FSU would award me the major." i’m thinking they most certainly would. Why wouldn’t they? What is your goal? Are you trying to get a college degree by just AP credits alone?

Clarify your question.

But then great job on your classes, tests, SAT, and ACT scores. Can you tell me how you were able to do it? How many hours on average did you study per day? How did you manage your time so well? Wow… just wow. are you parents really bright as well?

I think you should shoot to go to MIT since you’re so good at sciences and math and are obviously very intelligent.

I was asking whether they would give me the biochemistry major without ever actually being admitted to the college, except through the dual enrollment program

It was thanks to Florida Virtual School. I completed each class in a matter of weeks thanks to the any pace policy. It took some long nights but I did it. Kind of got addicted. As for the SAT and ACT scores it was thanks to the IB program, they allowed me to do higher level mathematics, such as geometry and algebra II in middle school. I quit the program due to the fact that it was hosted in, lets just say not a good neighborhood. I’ld rather not go to some big ivy league school because they would not accept all, if any, of my AP credits. Plus I did the DE at FSU and am pretty used to the campus and teachers. Plus FSU will probably give me a full ride and I live in Tallahassee, so living costs aren’t a problem.

What are you planning to do with a biochem degree? It is only really useful if you are sure you are going into a professional program such as med, pharm, or dental. Otherwise I’d hate to see a smart person toss their chance at the American dream away by getting a worthless degree or joining the academic pyramid scheme.
