After college, I want to go into medical research (probably either cell & tissue engineering or drug development & research), but I'm having a bit of a problem choosing major. I was already planning on going to grad school, but from what I've read and heard, bio/biomed engineering is not very reliable and only briefly covers a variety of topics (jack of all trades, expert in none). Is this a good major to choose to eventually go into medical research, or are there better options? The schools I'm looking at are MIT, Johns Hopkins, Rice, and Duke, so I don't know if that helps any. Please help!

I searched through the forums. And found this thread. Its dated, but I feel a lot of the challenges then have no resolved in 8 years.
