I'm interested in doing something (career-wise) both impactful and interesting, and bioengineering seems like a really good fit. Would a bioengineering/biomedical engineering major (in conjunction with a master's) be the way to get one of these jobs? I'm hesitant to do a PhD, because I don't want to put my life on hold for 4-7 years. Also, I'm curious as to the amount of free time a bioengineering major has at a school like UMich or UCLA and the work-life balance of those in the bioengineering field. Also, can one do study abroad while doing a bioengineering degree?

Thanks to anyone who responds!
