Biola University or Wheaton College?

hey everyone. i'm currently thinking of applying to these schools and plan to major in nursing. does anyone have any suggestions/comments/experiences with these schools? thanks! :) (wheaton, as in the one in IL)

bump bump and bump

My husband and I both graduated from Wheaton. Unless things have changed significantly, Wheaton does not have a nursing program - so a student would have to complete nursing by attending classes at another local school or by transfering out of Wheaton altogether half way through college. The engineering students had to do the same thing - leave after junior year and take 2 years in an engineering program somewhere else.

If this is still the case, I would not recommend it. Also, think hard before going to a school like Wheaton. I consider my attendance there to be one of my biggest mistakes. I should have attended Miami of Ohio, where I was accepted at the time. It would have allowed me to major in something I really could have sunk my life into - like architecture or design. Since Wheaton is a small liberal arts college, I ended up majoring in English Lit - not much to do with that except teach, go to grad school, or write.

Also, it can be very stiffling to have christianity so woven into the fabric of everything around you. I would never want my children to attend Wheaton.

yea, that's what i heard too, they have a 3/2 nursing and liberal arts program. the nursing program is at another school like Johns Hopkins, while the LB part is at Wheaton.

anyone else have any suggestions? btw, thanks for replying momof07.

If you're looking strictly for a Christian college, Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego has a nice nursing program (and a beautiful campus overlooking the ocean). Seattle Pacific in Washington state, York in PA, and Texas Christian would be other "Christian" options with nursing programs. Biola has an excellent nursing program, however.

Expanding beyond Christian colleges, there are many other options as well.
