some of u may see my posts from time to time that ask "do i have to be good at math for this?" well, now its the sciences. I'm not wanting to do engineering or biochem, just biology w/ ecology. I didnt think this would require much math, but in the Rice catalogue it says that i have to take calc.1,2, and either bio-stats or linear algebra or basic math biology. I'm not BAD at math, i'd say i'm around average. I made a 29 on ACT math and a 650 on SAT math and I've had A's all through school in math except for AP calc which i find pretty difficult and have a b- even with a curve. I'm also taking ap stats but am doing better in it, some of the probability stuff is confusing though.
So, it worries me a little. I have to really study to do well in math, but i am good at the sciences (4 on AP chem, i guess thats pretty good). anyway, will i be able to do bio without being "good" at math? I'm also thinking of pre-physician assistant, and this major covers most of the requirements for that i think. Thanks guys, i'm a worry wort.

You are definitely worrying too much about this. Many people find calculus tough. If you get a 4 on the AP exam then you can take Calc 2 first semester freshman year. More than likely, the first half of the semester will be a review, and the new info you learn in Calc 2 will not be anymore difficult than Calc 1 material. Additionally, linear algebra is about the same in terms of difficulty as calculus. As long as you don't have to get into the theoretically math courses then you will be able to do well if you put the time in.

EDIT--- Rams suck... Patriots just lost and I am not particularly happy right now...

Lol don't be a worry wort..I second the above post...

P.S. GO COLTS!!

i know i shouldnt get this worried over it, but i dont want to get through some of my classes and then not be able to do anything advanced because i'm bad at math... and yah, the rams are sucking it up
