Biology outlook: is it great?

At one point in my college life I really considered majoring in Biology as part of my highschool dream. Then started to ask myself, "what can I actually do with my degree unless I persue a masters and become a health professional or a teacher?" It's wierd but I still really want to persue this major but I'm struggling with that same question. After your four year degree, what job offers are there: health admin? nursing? teaching? Or are most obtained after completion of a masters?

Also, is it possible to obtain a masters in Bio if your undergrad degree was in Business, Econ, or CompSci?

Im a senior biology major, and honestly, I wish I knew what I know now about this field…

A bachelors in biology is precieved more as a stepping stone than the light at the end of a tunnel. You can probably get numerous lab-based jobs or entry level positions with biology-related companies. Some government positions can also be available. If you decide to focus on conservation/ecology/etc. then you can plan on focusing your job search to government based jobs, environmental consultant firms, etc.
Problem is, as the world gets flooded with overexperienced people, jobs become more competitive. The majority of these jobs are now shifting their focus to masters degrees before they consider you as a candidate.

Teaching is always an option with a bachelors, but so is literally every other degree.

If your looking at health administration or nursing, then you don’t want to go this way. Both require special degrees, that a biology degree, can ‘prepare you for’ but also waste your time.

Seriously, if you are looking at entering the workforce with a bachelors, dont go here.

What if you major in BIO and then go to a 2 or 4 year health program [physician assistant] will it still be a waste of time? or should you just major in physician assistant studies?

Oh God, don’t major in physician assistant studies… If you don’t make it, that degree’s useless.

What kind of job would one get with a Phd in Biology?
