Hey guys. I'm in my third year now of College with Biology as my declared major, but I am not sure what I want to do with it. I wanted to go to Med school first but I don't think I can handle that any more. I feel like I should get my Bio degree and perhaps pursue something else but I feel as if I would be wasting some more years. I'm feeling kind of hopeless. What else can I do with a biology degree? If I want to pursue a master's program and don't get in, can I try again? What kind of jobs can I find with a master's degree? Thanks guys.

Biology-specific job and career prospects are not great, unfortunately.

You will need some sort of post graduate training. A MS in biology is only digging the hole deeper. Try for med school. Some alternatives are Physician’s assistant, Physical Therapy, OT, or get a graduate degree in accounting/Finance.

With a BS in biology you will likely end up working retail.

You have a few different options considering you are still in school. You still have some time to decide what to do now.

Professional Science Masters Program-A combination of science and business to get into higher biotech/pharma positions

Med School/PA/PT/Dental School

Switch to something else completely-You can get a masters in something or change your major.

I would also consider getting a minor in something that you’re interested in and that has the potential to help you get employment. (CS, Econ, Accounting, Business etc.)

Change your major, and continue taking those BIO courses that you find interesting. You might end up working for a bar, or a retail store with just a degree in BIO. Spare yourself the stress.

What about teaching high school bio or middle school science? It doesn’t have to be permanent, and you make a ton of contacts there. You may even find that you like it.
