How is the biology program?

Anything at HMC is going to be excellent. But the fact of the matter is, it's going to be HARD. The professors make things very challenging; but at the same time, they will go out of their way to help you learn the material. A friend of mine named Melissa goes there; she told me these things about Mudd.

how is mudd for premed, or equivalent?

As eternity said, everything is great. I haven't met a bio prof I haven't liked (only been there a year, though). Altf4, there is no specific premed program, but there are definitely people who go on to medical school. The only problem you might run into is the strict GPA requirements most med schools have. Mudd doesn't do grade inflation like most big name universities, so GPA's tend to be lower. Don't let that deter you, though, it IS possible to do well. If you're interested (I tell this to everyone) come visit! Get a feel for the school.

i have already visited, and i like the place. i will try and come back when school is in session.

do you have any tips for admissions?

Interview. Actually, I really don't know if this helps at all, but one of Mudd's big things is finding people who not only have the academic strength, but a certain strength of character. An interview lets them see your personality as well as giving you an opportunity to boast about your best traits. My interviewer was a senior, and the interview (and rest of my overnight stay) convinced me that this was where I want to be. It's not only a chance for the school to get an idea of what you're like -- it also allows gives you a feel for the school's personality.

are all graduating students allowed to apply med schools?

bio/chem majors, esp.

Anyone from any major at any school can apply to a med school, as long as they have taken the MCAT's and have the basic courses that most med schools require (Bio, Calc, Chem, O-Chem, Physics).
