Hi,

I've been accepted to HMC and am interested in biochemistry and health sciences. I am somewhat keen on medical school, but HMC is known for its intense curriculum which often hampers GPAs. I'm pretty weak in physics (took regular physics in 9th grade and never did it again) and don't know if I'll be able to do well in those classes. I am interested in the subject though. Would HMC be a good option for me?

Also, how is the social life at Mudd? I love science, but sometimes I'm afraid I'm not as enthusiastic or knowledgeable as the other students.

Thanks.

Hey, I think i read something like this somewhere about Harvey Mudd/ Premed..

Any who, I want to go into engineering and possibly switch to premed, depending on what my passion ends up being. I think going to HMC would help you be more rounded and adds a bit of sparkle when applying to Med School. However, you could vary your classes at a school that gives you more choice as well.

From what I hear, the social life at mudd is pretty good. Students work hard, but have a lot of fun. They supposedly have the best parties of the 5cs.

Hope this helped- this is all from what I've heard, so take it with a grain of salt.

No, I would not recommend Mudd for Pre Med.

Grade deflation will make grad school admission difficult. You'll be required to take more technical core classes than your peers at other institutions. You'll score very well on the MCAT and all that junk but from what I hear (as an eng major) is that biology is very good at Mudd but Pre Med students get screwed.

Harvey Mudd is notorious for killing students' gpas. Harvey Mudd is a very risky school for Pre Med.
