Biomedical Sciences and GRE General

So I just took the GRE.

540 in Verbal, 700 in Quantitative.

I have a 3.8 at Cal, and have a year left until I graduate. I've also been doing research since the beginning of the year, and am intended to second/third author a paper by the time I graduate.

I was planning to go into the Biomedical Sciences and sent my scores to UCSD, Cal, Stanford, and Scripps Research Institute.

I assume I have to retake the GRE, since both of my scores are relatively low for the schools I want to go to.

Any suggestions? I'm dissapointed because I had scored over 1400 on both practice tests ETS sent me.

Yeah, you probably want to retake the test. Perhaps it was an off day.

What ARE qualifying GREs for the top biomedical science programs? At Penn neuro, one of the best, they state that their average GREs are 630 V/720 Q/5.5 AW. I would think that the current students would be clustered around those scores, with some higher but also (obviously) some lower.

People got into my program at Duke with scores in your range, so you may be fine if you apply broadly. If you do retake and do not improve, you may want to take time off to improve your application.
