Biotech course in high school?

Does biotech look good on college applications? Because I want to take it for junior year, but it's not an AP class.
Biotech is also a new curriculum (a year long) at my school.

if you want to do it and you have plans to take a couple AP courses junior year, then take the biotech course, too. Have some fun in high school courses! There’s always drudgery to be found.

Are you planning to go into STEM fields? Will you be taking a couple AP classes (English language, AP Chem,… any subject) in addition to Biotech?
If the answer is yes to both, go ahead and take biotech. Taking a class you’re truly excited about is very important and depending on college, your excitement over a class will be very good if you interview or in your essays.

Well, i’m not thinking of going into STEM fields, but for sure in some sort of a medical field. But I am thinking of taking AP Bio or AP Econ.
i’m was really interested in taking biotech after going to the class to learn about what your going to do if you take the course. However I was disappointed that it’s not an AP course!

You only need a total of 6-8 AP’s by graduation. If Biotech is rigorous (and it sounds like it is) then it’s as valuable for rigor as an AP course.
