I am very interested in doing something in biotechology, but it's hard to find colleges (specifically in the US) that offer a degree in biotechnology (I think it's because it's a really broad field). I understand that it has many disciplines into it and you're not really supposed to mix it all into one but does anyone know what type of majors would be related to biotechnology? I am more interested in the laboratory, research, testing aspects of it than the machines.

Thank you :)

Biochemistry is closely related to biotechnology. In fact, at one college in my state, the two degrees only differ by a few courses. I would highly recommend Biochem if you can’t find a biotech program you like. Be aware that you will likely have to go to grad school to be employable in this field; even then job prospects are terrible (or so I’ve been told, I’m also interested in Biochem). My plans used to be set in stone: I would pursue a PhD in Biochem and try for a research position @ a university; I have recently began to consider engineering instead, and chemical engineering sounds like it might be fine. More $$$ plus better job prospects is comforting. I’m not sure yet, but I’m going to an engineering summer program to check it out and see if engineering is something I could see myself doing. I would recommend doing the same.

Edit: I checked out a few of your other posts and see you are considering Biomed engineering, so my point about considering an engineering field is kind of… dumb… now You already have.
