Birds on campus?

I've got a slight phobia of birds. And this is a totally odd question.

Obviously there are going to be birds, its a wooded area. But is it crowded with them?

You will encounter much wildlife on campus. First tour, the tour guide talked of bunnies outside Swem Library. Daughter was excited when she finally saw them. She often sees deer. And once, while running in the woods behind the rec center, she actually encountered a bear. Plentiful squirrels but honestly, there doesn’t seem to be anything spectacular concerning birds.

Bear? Really?
And there was this murder of crows outside the entrance to my dorm three mornings in a row up in the trees. There are more squirrels than birds though.

I would imagine there are lots of birds seeing as it’s a pretty wooded area. But not any more than the average rural area. I don’t think they’ll be swarming around you or anything…

@momray-A bear? Wow. I’ve seen a herd of ten deer cross my back yard, rabbits, squirrels, possums, skunks, and foxes come into my carport, but I can’t say I’ve ever run into a bear…

If the W&M mascot ends up being a wren (or maybe a griffin or phoenix), you will never be able to venture outside. Better vote for the pug.

I don’t think that the W&M campus (which is as beautiful as any) has proportionately more birds than any other beautifully landscaped campus. However there have been some odd bird mishaps nearby at Busch Gardens…

Opps…forgot the Fabio incident.

Yep…small bear. Late Fall 2008.

There are not that many birds.

perhaps I should not post this, but it is relevant: [William & Mary - Raptors nest above Sunken Garden](Raptors nest above Sunken Garden | William & Mary)

I am intrigued by the “bear” sighting…

Not so many birds… eerily large quantities of squirrels. Widely presumed to be Sam Sadler’s spies.
