bittorrent use @ UCLA

lately, my roommates and i collectively download about 30-40 gigs a week, (We all ordered external hard drives and went crazy, lol)

^
seems like a shame to not use the connection huh.

lately i’ve been using private trackers (+ip blocklist) and so far it seems to be safe.

Is it okay to use the DownloadHelper add-on from Firefox??

how do we know if the tracker is private or not?..i dont really know that kinda stuff. I just click and download the things i want at home :).

Most people get caught for downloading movies. I don’t know anyone who has been caught for downloading applications … yet. But if you want to watch movies, then just watch them streaming online, UCLA doesn’t care about that (like hulu.com or ovguide.com).
Private trackers are trackers that require registration (most of the times).

joiya550, if you’re not sure, then its a public torrent.

private trackers require registration, most of the time w/ an invite

they’re safer because prosecutors would have to get into the private tracker in order to find the IP of the user downloading illegally. plus, using an IP blocklist (which is basically a database of known ‘bad’ IPs), you can block out most of those prosecutors so they can’t reach you.

true story.

Yeah, you can load an ipblock list into your client but I don’t really know if that’s really effective.
The safest is to download off of data hosts. (there are some that are quite good and fast actually).
The thing is that I get so much stuff to watch but don’t really have the time to do so… freaking CS33 =_= haha

is there a limit on how much you can download before they get suspicous? i use rapidshare to download entourage and i downloaded 2 seasons in the past 2 days (around 10 gigs) should i wait a while to continue or does it not matter at all?

No. They don’t monitor bandwidth usage.

hey kick, how do u download 10 gigs in two days, isnt there a limit in rapidshare, do u have a premium account

i just download files and wait for the 15 minutes while leaving the computer on overnight, i use jdownloader so its just continuous download like it starts the next file automatically after the wait is over so you don’t have to go and click yourself…

lol jiceo1

download now, enjoy in summer :]

^ that’s what I’m doing… trying now to get 720p / 1080p moviez to enjoy on my new monitor.
Sadly, I’m running out of space…

do u guys know any good movie link places to download HD 1080p movies, now that i’ve found jdownloader, the idea of downloading 124 rapidshare parts isnt so bad anymore

lmao 124 is gonna take so long  since between each file there is 17 minute wait… do you guys really notice the difference between HD and normal DVD? i can’t really tell as i watched both on my ps3 :(

yep theres a really clear difference between hd and normal dvd lol

yeah maybe my monitor is too small then… at 22 inch i don’t really notice it…

there is ahuge difference!

you sure you downloaded an hd movie then? i’m on a 15.4 inch laptop and you can easily see that hd is better

when they rip hd its usually at a higher resolution than a normal dvdrip

and hd is usually like twice the size…
