Biz Econ/Econ Majors with TAP whats your alternate major?

For everyone applying to Ucla BizEcon and Econ and has TAP what are you putting for your alternate major? Since we can't put Econ has a back up major anymore. I can't decide between apply for BizEcon or Econ as I think I have a better chance of getting into Econ.

My alternate major is going to be math/econ even though I wont have all the pre reqs done.

And for those that didn't know yet.

NEW POLICY - effective for Fall 2010 Transfer Applicants

Due to the continuous increase in transfer applications to UCLA and because the majority of applicants apply to a select number of majors, the following change in TAP admissions has been approved by the College of Letters and Science:

TAP certified students will be reviewed for alternate majors only if they meet both of the following provisions.

A. The alternate major may NOT be one of the following 10 selective majors:

* Pre-Business Economics
* Communication Studies
* Pre-Economics
* Pre-Economics/International Area Studies
* English

 • Pre-Global Studies
 • Pre-History
 • Pre-Political Science
 • Pre-Psychology
 • Pre-Sociology

B. The alternate major must have been listed on the original UC Application. Requests to add or change the alternate major after submission of the application will not be considered. This applies to all alternate majors at UCLA.

Note: The TAP policy on review of alternate majors is still restricted to those in the UCLA College (Letters and Science). Majors in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science (HSSEAS), the School of Arts and Architecture (SOAA), the School of Nursing, and the School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT) are not acceptable for alternate major review.

UCLA - Transfer Alliance Program

First choice: Biz-econ. Alternate: Math/Econ. i won’t have all the pre-reqs done for math/econ either, but it’s the closest to what i want that isn’t impacted.

I’m in the same dilemma.

I mean, I was thinking of putting Math/Econ as my alternate like you guys … but since I won’t have all the pre-req’s done … I’m a little hesitant.

Also, I’m not sure if I would be able to handle those high level math classes if I DO get accepted.

I’m torn.

I don’t see bio in the majors that can’t be put as alternates, so does that mean that you can even though it is impacted?

Lol I put econ for main and biz for alt because I did not want to do anything besides econ at LA

Take it from me:

I got in to UCLA this year with my alternate (philosophy). I was a tap applicant for bizecon.

I may still be able to switch into bizecon according to the school, but if not then I will switch into Math/Econ and do a minor in accounting (aka Bizecon on steroids).

Look, people who applied without the prereqs didn’t get in, it’s a rare occasion. However, if you apply with an alternate that is ridiculously easy to get into then switch into math/econ once you’re there, you’ll be golden.

Listing math/econ as alternate even though you know you won’t meet the pre-reqs… how does that work out?

Isn’t that a waste of the alternate major? What do you guys know that I don’t? lol

Swagger, It looks like it is harder to get into UCLA with phil(60.10% admit rate) than math/econ(63.59% admit rate) why did you choose phil over math/econ if you planned on getting math/econ anyway?

Was it based off of not meeting pre-reqs?
