what address should the student have for the local address? Is it the hall address or U-box address?

Local address for mail excluding packages= Your ubox
Packages= Hall address (although i think now everything goes to the UPS store)

U-box…

FSU wants a mailing address and as of summer 2010, all mail and packages go to the U-box anyway.

and will the campus address show up after the student actually signs into the room?

That may be true sunny, but many online retailers don’t ship to a P.O Box, so packages best at your Hall address. Housing FSU still says packages to your dorm’s address.

The question was what local address to use for Blackboard secure apps. That would most def be your local mailing address, whether it be u-box, apt address, frat address. The local address that FSU wants in blackboard is a mailing address as in US Mail/USPS.

And to clarify, a u-box address is NOT a PO box it is in fact a street address on Woodward Ave. The FSU mail boxes are not truly PO boxes. One should NOT use PO Box in their address but rather use U-Box. Retailers WILL ship to U-boxes and this is FSU’s official current statement on addressing packages as of summer 2010:

And I can tell you that it will just be a matter of time before packages addressed to dorms will be sent back as undeliverable. So use the Woodward ave. U-box address for any and all mail. Those boxes are no different than the central boxes at apartment complexes now where the mail is delivered to one central area where you use a key to open your box. Those are also not PO Boxes.

how do you get the entire local address in? there’s only one line–if you put the 75 N Woodward Ave on the first line there’s no line for the U-Box
how is everyone else doing it???

For FSU you only need to enter the U-box number. For vendors and others you need to include the entire address, although you can list one line as 75 N Woodward Box 9999, or 75 N Woodward U-Box 9999.

"75 N Woodward U-Box 9999. "

That’s what I did. Hopefully that’s acceptable.

Perfect!!!

Actually, I just checked and it’s being weird. It completely removed the street address and replaced it with the city, state, and zip code. When I did the same thing, but said “Box#9999” instead of U-Box#9999, it changed it to “PO Box 9999”…
I just sent an email about it so hopefully it’s resolved before it becomes a problem.

Dner–please let us know what they reply. the only way I got something close in was to put 75 N Woodward Ave #69999 I was unable to put U-Box in…
