What happened with Amherst? Where are you?

I think Amherst decisions are not in; that board is very quiet. Could be wrong..

I was wondering where Robym is, too

I may be wrong, but wasn't Roby the one who said she needed to take a little break from CC during this early decision round stuff as it added to the stress or something along those lines? That is what I think. I am sure she will return.
Susan

So much good news from the parents, but there have been a few temporary setbacks. Robyrm reported that her son was deferred from his ED school, so she may be taking a break from CC. If you're out there, Roby, best of luck to your son, and we hope you'll come back when you're ready.

i do believe that the Amherst decisions are in

You beat me to it! I was going to ask what happened to Blaineko also.

Blaineko, Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Every year there are certain applicants that you just can't help rooting for - Blaineko is one this year.

I'm going off-topic here for a moment. This is for the oldies. Does anyone hear from Mike's dad? I think someone said they were still in touch with him. Just wondering how he's doing.

I hear from Mike's dad still. Mike is doing very well at University of Puget Sound = very happy with his choice and enjoying school. Mike's Dad is still recuperating somewhat from his stroke but is doing better and is very proud of Mike.

It's so nice to know about Mike's dad. And I am rooting for Blaineko, too!

Thanks Carolyn. Glad to hear about Mike. Tell his dad that we all think about him and would love to have him pop in once in a while.

The Amherst board is awfully quiet. Almost as if by design and everyone has moved to some other board (unmentionable here)..Very strange.

Bookworm,
Back for the first time in days (Keeping a promise to myself!)

Thanks for asking. All fine here. Son had 1 hour of anger and then went off to study for exams. His ED school is not his Dream, it is just a school...he might work on the deferral, not sure. We'll see how he feels when the other essays are done. Beyond this, his current focus and worry, and ours as well, when (not if) the new warnings about an imminent bombing in a large hotel in Indonesia will come to fruition...

Not only is there college life after ED deferrals...sometimes there is just life.

Time to run to pick up # 3 at school- thankfully she is only 9 and we don;t have to do this next year.

robyrm, did you see the latest from the US Embassy? "These attacks could occur at any time and could be directed against any location." How's that for Tidings of Comfort and Joy? Kind of puts anxiety into perspective. In one of my son's intervews he was asked, What worries you most about applying to college? His answer was: Being able to actually finish highschool without being evacuated. Stay safe!

With great trepidation I let my son go out last night, but thankfully he has essays to keep him busy the next few days!! Not the homecoming so many of the kids would have liked, but not unfamiliar either. Is there a warning after that of the 15th?

The main essay topic is particularly timely and poignant in this regards...

i'm sorry, i think i might be missing something....where are you from?

Jakarta, Indonesia. Christmas season bombings are an all too regular feature of life in Indonesia.

Ohh yes, I met someone at a summer program from there. That is very sad...be safe!

Roby and Momrath....those concerns put the college stuff in perspective real fast. Thinking of you and hope all is well and that this passes quickly and without anything happening. I also would think that this sort of topic would make a unique essay as most American kids do not grapple with such concerns.

Be well...
Susan
