Blank sheet of paper and $20?

Today there was very thin envelope from USC in the mail. I thought it was a rejection letter, but when I opened the envelope all that was inside was a blank sheet of paper and a $20 bill. Seriously. Has this happenned to anyone else?

Wow, seriously? That's so odd.

I hope you're not pulling our chains...

Completely serious.

Well that is quite weird. I'd think that if you overpaid the app fee or something, there would be an official check for a refund. I'd definitely call USC and see what's up.

I love a mystery. Hmm. If S filed Part I of the app, he was entitled to a lower fee for Part II, right? My first thought was perhaps S didn't recall that and overpaid with Part II. But the cash without an explanatory letter is so odd! Are you planning on calling them to find out? Please let us all know.

It's your financial aid award.

(JK)

Please call admissions and let us know. Very strange.

Please call the admissions office. Perhaps somebody had an extra SC envelope and is playing a joke on you. I have never heard of anything like this ever happening before.

Like a couple months ago, the same thing happened to me except they mailed $3 back. I never bothered to find out why haha. It doesn't seem like a big deal. They probably accidentally overcharged or something. who knows. I ended up getting accepted, so I don't think it would hurt your chances or anything weird like that. haha

whos cares about the money finding out if you made it matters ahah

haha thats so strange!

Any news on what actually happened? That is so eerie!

someone is playing a prank on u

^^ exactly.

Note to self: keep all college envelopes.

Maybe you overpaid the application fee.

I think overpayment is the most likely answer, but I would think that an overpayment would be refunded via an official check with at least a word or two of explanation-- like "overpayment" in the memo line.

It is hard to imagine that someone in the admissions office is sitting there with a wad of cash stuffing it in to envelopes and mailing it off with no explanation enclosed.

I think it's a mistake. I wish they made that mistake with my daughter last year. She wouldn't mind the $20 mistake.

"Its your financial aid award"

hahahahah! :D talk about a bad economy.
let me know what happened. i wish i got 20 bucks from usc :P

Sent an email to admissions Friday explaining that we received a $20 and a blank sheet of paper from them, but no response (other than the auto responder) yet.
