I posted this on another thread, but am curious as to what people think. We are worried . . .
My son was also offered the waitlist/Blinn team etc. option. We were shocked and felt he would be a “shoe in” on the review admission because he missed automatic admission by such a small margin (both ways of auto admission).
He has a 3.89 GPA and had a 620 Math/540 Critical Reading on the SAT. His class ranking puts him at 12.4 percentile. He is involved in sports teams, PALS etc. We were shocked and hope his chances of getting in off of the waitlist are good. He accepted the BlinnTeam and Galveston options, but hope we don’t have to utilize those.
He has been told he should have chosen a different major, is that right? He chose Business-unspecified and Economics as a second choice. We just knew he would get in on the review option and now that that did not happened, I’m worried!!! Should he visit one of the perspective student centers and speak to one of the advisors there or just leave well enough alone?

That happened to my little brother as well! He is Top 11% in his class, involved in sports and clubs, volunteers at an Alzheimer’s home, and did well on his SAT. My family and I were all shocked when he got the waitlist/Blinn Team option. He called on of the counselors at the Prospective Student Center, and they told him there is really nothing he can do. He asked about sending in updated transcripts or changing his major on AIS (he chose Business as well), but they said they are going to base it off of what they already have in his file.

You may want to call and ask some of those questions as well! Please let me know if you hear differently! Good luck to your son… these boys deserve it :)

whatrchances, I’m very surprised he didn’t get in also.

I know that if UT wants you, but you don’t get your specified major you are accepted into General Studies. I would THINK it would work the same way for A&M. Sorry to hear, but I’m guessing after the May 1st deadline there will be lots of movement on the waitlist and surely he will get in.

My son’s good friend has nowhere NEAR your son’s stats and he was admitted via the summer gateway program. I think maybe your son should call the propective student center just to express his surprise and point out his “stats”… in case some strange kind of data entry mistake is involved.

Good luck to him!

OH MY GOD.
May 1st is almost here, and I have yet to hear from A&M about the waitlist or the blinn team… I know it can lag out to May 17th, but has anyone recieved any more information, or an acceptance letter off the waitlist?

I just got accepted off the waitlist for A&M
I had a 3.6 GPA
1710 SAT
Oodles of EC
and top 11%

Got my letter on friday.
I’m waiting for my Financial Aid Award before making any decisions.

Whats your major on AIS?

I’m thinking they also break down the waitlist by what major each individual is planning on pursuing so there’s a balance between all majors…?
IDK…

Is that GPA weighted or unweighted? Sounds about the same as my son…hope he hears soon as well!

My son was accepted off the waitlist yesterday! Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

i cannot access to AIS it says my password is expired, what does it mean?

I think that means you are declined…

Thats what I’ve heard from other people, but to make for sure, call them and ask.

kyuhyung0319 - Nooo it doesn’t mean you’re declined. It means that every 6 months, you have to change your password. So go ahead and change it.

how can i change my password? isn’t it saying that may 17th is lastest date to tell us final result?

To change passwords, go here: https://services.tamu.edu/change-password/

when can i hear the result of waitlist?

I heard that applying early can help, but doesnt secure you a spot. My daughter had low SAT scores Math:520 Writing 590 and Reading: 570. she goes to a competitive high school. She has a good resume and very good essays (she did all three). There were a few kids with lower stats who got in from her school. Anyone think she has a chance of getting in?

Their is always a possibility, just hope for the best.

anyone who get off waitlist? if you are, can you tell me your SAT or ACT score, your GPA, major, and when did you apply?

My son got in off of the waitlist today. He has an unweighted GPA of 3.89. SAT was 620 for Math and 540 for Reading, class rank put him at 12.4 percentile, and lots of school activities. He applied back in November. The wait was incredible and we have been stressed for months. We are so glad it’s over. Hang in there, keep your fingers crossed and hopefully things will happen soon. From what I have read it seems like lots of changes are starting to happen this week.

I got in off waitlist on the 6th.
3.5 GPA, 27 on the ACT, top 25% (automatically given to homeschooled students), I had an interest in the Corps and had a few accomplishments through JROTC. I submitted all three essays, and yeah…woo

I spoke with the admissions office today, and they said they only have about 20 slots left for BlinnTeam, so if you haven’t heard yet, you probably won’t be selected. :(
