Block Scheduling/Math

My son is a rising senior. He spent his freshman year and 1st semester of sophomore at a school which had 7 class periods. We moved and he switched to a school on the block schedule. He had already taken 1/2 year of sophmore math when he got to the new school. Since they do not give credit for 1/2 year courses they made him retake the math.

Due to this he is behind on his math courses. He will take pre cal the 1st semester of senior year and AP cal the second semester.

Will this hurt him when applying to schools in the fall? He did score well on the ACT math with either a 32 or 33 can't remember which.

No, it shouldn't. But, if you are concerned just ask the GC go explain in the rec letter that is is new school's policy that he has to retake the math.

If he will be taking AP-Calc in the second semester of his senior year, he should not take the math classes this summer. They seem to be post-calc classes.

That's not really "behind". He'll finish AP Calc (AB, I assume?) by the end of senior year, which is perfectly normal.
