Blog entries you probably haven't read

So as you're probably aware, MIT has a dedicated group of student bloggers who have spilled huge amounts of virtual ink on every MIT-related topic under the sun.

You may not be aware that this has been happening since 2004, and that there are, in fact, about 1800 blog entries in the archives. You have probably not read anything before the summer of 2006, which makes me incredibly sad -- why did I go back and fix the code for 1300 entires last summer if you are not going to read them?

So I've compiled a list of blog entries that may be particularly helpful as you're making your college decision. A bunch of them are mine, which has less to do with me being amazing and more to do with the fact that I know my own entries the best. If you know of a particularly trenchant entry written by an MIT blogger, by all means link to it below.

Academics
Mind and hand (Jessie): Engineers becoming scientists and vice versa

mollie: Thanks so much for compiling this list - I know my kid will appreciate reading the posts (especially since they're so nicely listed by subject matter); library science could be a back-up .....

I can say mollie that I've read each and every blog entry ever posted and loved all of them, from Sam's 1024 posts, to the current admissions related posts. (I've bookmarked "What I came to MIT to learn", always worth a laugh. :))

There's an incredible number of people out there who've fallen in love with MIT through these blogs, we all of us doff our hats to you... Brilliant work. :D

Haha, thanks, Shrivats -- that makes me feel better. :D

I should have said above that I know it's sensible for most people to have only read the blogs for the past nine months or so. There's just an incredible amount of information in the archives from past years -- if you want to read an entry relevant to what you're going through now, and nobody's posted about it yet, odds are you can look on this date in 2006 or 2005 and you'll find something helpful.

Ha, yeah - I started reading them sophomore year, which is...2004! Dark ages, man, dark ages... Wow, I feel old!
