Okay, I'm pretty strong at math, so I feel pretty stupid about asking about this problem. But I don't understand where they got the answer.

If you have the blue book, its practice test #4, section 6, problem 15 (page 597). It concerns a triangle inside another triangle, asking about the fraction of one area over another.

I just took the area of the smaller triangle and the bigger triangle using 1/2bh and then found the fraction. I put 9/16 (originally I got 4.5/8 but that doesn't fit in the grid in, and so I changed it....now that I think about it, it seems very fishy) How did the get 1/2???

Thanks so much for your help!!!
