Blue Book Questions!

I just have a few questions that I don't understand either how to do or the best way to do them.

The first:
HISTORY TEST RESULTS
Score: Number of Students:
100 1
95 2
90 4
85 1
80 3
75 2
70 2
65 0
60 1

The scores on Tuesday's history test for 16 students are shown in the table above. Sam, who was the only student absent on Tuesday, will take the test next week, If Sam receives a score of 95 on the test, what will be the median score for the test?

(A) 90
(B) 87.5
(C) 85
(D) 82.5
(E) 80

~Is there a more effective way than just making the number of students who got 95 3 instead of 2 and listing out all the numbers and finding the median visually?

The second:

If 2^x + 2^x + 2^x + 2^x = 2^7, what is the value of x ?

~I would like an explanation rather than just the answer please.

The third:

Today more and more women are becoming doctors, lawyers, engineers, chemists, (or other professions).

(A) or other professions
(B) or they work in other professions
(C) or at work in other professional fields
(D) or professionals in other fields
(E) or in other professional fields

~I know the answer is D but I do not know why. I don't understand why A doesn't work either.

The fourth:

Beginning photographers may choose from among several camera types, (there is one which is) best for their particular interests.

(A) there is one which is
(B) of which there is one
(C) one of which is
(D) and one is
(E) one is

~I realize the sentence as is is a comma splice however I don't understand why the answer is C. Wouldn't that also make it two complete sentences?

This problem involves knowing what a median is. If given a set of scores, the median can be found by eliminating the biggest and smallest score simultaneously. If there ends up being two scores left (or when there is an even number of data points), then the average of those is the median.
The normal data set (without him) is: 60,70,70,75,75,80,80,80,85,90,90,90,90,95,95,100
Since there are 16 points, the median must be between the 8th and the 9th score, so between 80 and 85. However, if you add Sam’s score (95), then the 9th score must be the median. (17 scores, 8 below the median, 8 above the median and the median itself). So the median score is 85.

If 2^x + 2^x + 2^x + 2^x = 2^7, what is the value of x ?
2^x + 2^x + 2^x + 2^x=4*(2^x)
2^x=(2^7)/(4) You should know that 4=2^2
2^x=2^5
x=5

Today more and more women are becoming doctors, lawyers, engineers, chemists, (or other professions).
Here women are becoming people with JOBS. The profession must be in reference to a person, thus professional is appropriate. (Professional=person with a profession).

(A) or other professions
(B) or they work in other professions
(C) or at work in other professional fields
(D) or professionals in other fields
(E) or in other professional fields

Beginning photographers may choose from among several camera types, (there is one which is) best for their particular interests.
We can eliminate what we can.
A) Wrong
B) Awkward wording
D) Lack of connection between phrases
E) Comma Splice

C) can be learned just by reading articles in well-known newspapers
(A) there is one which is
(B) of which there is one
(C) one of which is
(D) and one is
(E) one is

Thanks for the responses. You explained them well and I understand them all now. I can’t believe I missed the third one–it makes perfect sense because a person can’t be a profession (duh?) Anyway thank you for the help.
