Does anyone know when Duke sends out the Blue Book? Do internationals get it later? I´m pretty sure they used Fedex International Priority last year. Does anyone know what service they will use this year?

From the Duke Class of 2013 Facebook Group:

“Blue Books will be mailed today [May 11, 2009] to 1340 domestic students who were matriculated by May 6th (had returned their reply card to Admissions so their status could be updated from Accepted to Matriculated). Subsequent mailings to domestic students will occur on May 14th and May 21st. After that time, the Admissions Office will mail Blue Books to students when they are matriculated. Packages containing a Blue Book, the netID letter and the summer reading book will be sent to matriculated international students on May 18th via Federal Express.”

I got it today.

Are you an international or American?

What is a blue book? I only know them as the book in which you write your answers for exams.

apparently it’s a gigantic book containing the knowledge of the universe that is supposed to lay out the path that your life will take and your ultimate destiny. However this poor soul has never laid eyes on it unfortunately so can’t really say exactly what it contains.

SBR, you are confused. That book is The Whole Earth Catalog. I’m pretty sure the blue book referenced in this thread is something else completely.

Nah, the whole earth catalog went out of fashion years ago. This is something completely different and apparently highly anticipated.

Out of use, perhaps, but the WEC never goes out of fashion!

To the guy up there, I’m American :P

The blue book arrived today. Very nice book. But it’s no Whole Earth Catalog.

Have any internationals received their Blue Book today? I´m expecting to get mine on Thursday.

Still haven´t received my Blue Book. How about the rest of the internationals in this forum?

Ps: Are you supposed to receive your Admission Letter/Folder in the same package as your Blue Book?

No admissions decisions should have already been received. The Blue Book comes after you submit the reply card and pay your deposit. I believe that the BB has been slowly reaching some internationals. But you were supposed to call if you did not receive it by May 25, so I would call Duke if I were you. Some things are due tom.
