How good is the team? I've looked at the record and the bios (that are listed) for all of their current players. But is it hard to try to become recruited for the team? etc.

Thanks a lot, everyone!

tennis!!! i want to try to be recruited for the team. I wonder if 3 years varsity tennis is good enough.

Hey, anonymous1234. I have 4 years of varsity tennis under my belt. My team regularly wins our county tournament (very competitive tennis county in NJ), and goes far in the state tournament.

I know the players on the team. They have clearly distinguished themselves within their region and have won substantial individual awards. Being on varsity for x amount of years is not enough.

Blah2009 - I know, I also have individual accomplishments, etc. I just wanted to know if you do have these things, how hard is it to get recruited? Sorry for the misconception, and thanks again!

Get in contact with the coach. Its rather easy to get recruited. The problem is within D-III athletics, a push from the coach means next to nothing. Good luck.

It never hurts to get in touch with a coach if you are possibly interested in playing a DIII sport at Hopkins. Just send them an email with questions about the team and also an introduction of yourself and your abilities. Coach contact info can be found here: http://hopkinssports.cstv.com/school-bio/jhop-staff.html

As far as Blah2009's statement that a push from a DIII coach means next to nothing, I would have to disagree. Admissions works closely with all the coaches and a supported recruit will be factored in the Admissions review process. So yes it matters and in some cases it is a big factor.

Thanks a lot, everyone.

Just to update everyone, and to make it known...

my school just won our state championship!!!

the men's team is getting stronger and stronger each year.. this year they went to the NCAA's .. i think for the first time in history!

Wow, I have also been talking to the Hopkins coach over the last couple of months. I am also intersted in playing tennis there in 2008. If they think that you are qualified to play for the team it isn't really hard to get "recruited" although being recruited at a D3 school is more or less you just sending an email to the coach asking for him/her to watch you play. I will be visiting in the fall.
