Blue ribbon app notification?

hi
For everyone who got the blue-ribbon app when will we hear if we’ve been accepted/deferred???

i think it's like mid-Feb.

what's a blue ribbon application?

I agree, I believe the decision date is in mid feb for the blue ribbon app. I am sure they look at ours right after the ED applicants, so maybe even sooner who knows!

Sulsk The blue ribbon app is something that brandeis sent out to a select(rather large in my opinion) group of students. We had to turn our apps in by december 15th but we hear in mid feb instead of by april 1st. Also we did not have to pay an app fee and had the option to write a new essay or use a graded assignment.

did most pple use a graded assignment??

i actually opted to send the essay that i wrote for my common app.

Hey - first of all...What the hell is a blue ribbon app? I got one, and I submitted it, I just dont know what it means. In any case, my letter just got sent today (they told me in an email) and so Im expecting it Monday. Good luck everyone!

Blue Ribbon App = 4 weeks from date of submission. Note that submission doesn't necessarily mean the date that you submit the app, but rather the last required material is received at Brandeis (such as SAT scores, transcript, rec, etc...)

Macadamiaman, do u know if this includes midyear reports?

That's a good point, Aldeya... I realize now that I was actually only thinking Early Decision (as I did), sorry, I can't help you in regular - and I can't confirm the four week thing for regular either.... But wooo I'm in :)

Sorry about that!

just curious does it give you an edge if you submitted/were sent one? Or is it the just the equivelant of early evaluation at other schools?

Hi. I happen to have had the Blue Ribbon App explained to me by a Brandeis rep at my school, so I thought I could help explain what it is.

The Blue Ribbon App was sent out to a random selection of out of state (not in massachusetts) students who have contacted Brandeis in some way at least twice (ie, campus visit, replied to a mailing, etc). Brandeis is doing the Blue Ribbon App as a way to research what they could do to make their applications more desirable. As such, different incentives are included with the Blue Ribbon App: no application fee, option to send a graded essay instead of a college app essay, only one teacher recommendation, and earlier notification (along with an earlier deadline). After doing the applications this year, the school hopes to evaluate to see what factor was most appealing to students and possibly adjust their regular application to match.

Hope that helped to clarify!

I was curious, do they tell you if you are missing a part of your application? I think there is a part that has not been turned in yet... but I dont' know how to find out!!

Always call them!!!

Macadamiaman, thanks for clearing that up :) guess i'm still left finding out in mid-Feb, hehe. CONGRATS on the acceptance ;)

COols875 - they should have everything including midyear reports, if those are already available in your school (app, fee, transcript, SATs, essay, etc.).
best bet would be to call and find out. the people in the admissions office are generally pretty helpful

thanks guys. :-) If you guys have visited, what do you think of the campus ?

Does anyone know how to get a copy of the Blue Ribbon midyear report online?

I can't find my paper copy - I might have submitted it to my counselor with the rec, but I wanted to have another, just in case. Oh, I'm so disorganized! AAAA!

i'm using the midyear report from the common app, since i used the common app for teacher recs. when i called them in like november they said it doesnt matter.. so maybe just get a copy from the common app website?

when is the midyear report due btw?

There's no official due date for the midyear report - each school's semester ends on different dates. However, if they haven't gotten in by March, you know...

does anyone know how important the midyear report is?
i'm not going to be particularly proud of mine this year.. specifically, i'm probably going to have two grades in the 80's... =/
