Bmc Or Mhc?

I recieve full aid from both of the schools but visited neither, so it is kinda hard for me to choose from them;
I would want a more rigorous academic and more city life ('cuz i grow up in cities like NYC), so i lean more to BMC, yet only 800 girls in the whole school? wow...my high school has 6,000 students...maybe the 2000+ in MHC is better and MA seems to be a better location.

what is your opinion?

may:

BMC has about 1770 students (if you count the undergrad and grad school population). Plus, you're a mile from Haverford, which has about 1500 students.

Mt. Holyoke is in the cosortium with Amherst, Hampshire, Smith, and UMassachusetts-Amherst. There is free shuttle service to all the campuses, and you can take classes at any one of the other schools if you like. In the Valley there are about 17,000 students, so it tends to be diverse. There are also many things to do. It just depends on how you respond.

With BMC, it is a train ride to the city, but you probably will not use it as much as you think (although it is psychologically comforting to have an "escape plan").

MHC is a few minutes in the countryside, but is extemely close to Springfield, MA, as well as the other colleges. The schools sponsor events/dances/concerts together and many hang out on the different campuses depending on the mood. You'd be way surprised about the tons of stuff going on...a definate colligiate area.

Anyhow, I hope this helps.

isn't MHC more internationlized? so it is hard to get out of the valley; what about BMC, do kids really go to the town a lot? which is a more exciting place?

May:

You get out of the valley to go skiing and go to other cities....Boston is close by train or bus (1.5 hours), as is Hartford (45 minutes), Sprinfield (10 minutes), NYC (though 2.5 hours)...usually friends have cars. The town of Amherst (10 minutes on free transportation), and Northhampton (10-15 minutes) are large enough to have many restaurants, shops, theaters, bookstores, etc...to keep you very entertained.

If you want big....UMass has open parties and concerts for all Valley kids. Awesome.

Maybe it's just me, but BMC seems more cloistered, although MHC is physically more so. Because of the interaction withing the Five College consortium, MHC feels more happening. Weird, I know.

Also, you gotta know the reason I'm familiar with this is because I've dated 2 Bryn Mawr womyn, and a MHC womyn, so I have a guys perspective...anyhow, I also have friends respectively at associated schools: Haverford for Bryn, and Amherst, Smith and UMass for MHC. No Hampshire friends, however.

In terms of internationals, MHC is more diverse.

Hope this helps.
IB

If you want a city nearby, definitely go to BMC.
Springfield is infamous for its high crime rates. Not to say Phili is the safest place, but you’ll probably find it a lot more entertaining (a lot of historical landmarks + many museums) than Springfield.

What’s your major, though? If they’re both offering to pay your tuition in full, you should choose the school with the better major.
