BME and Premed?

Any BME Premed students from Tech here? If so, could you give me some information regarding the difficulty of the program overall, time spent studying, internship and research experience, etc. I’m a very hopeful premed student about to attend gatech but am worried about the BME coursework. Should I switch majors? Part of the reason as to why I committed to Tech is bc their BME program is #1 in the US and is partnered with Emory Medical School. Any information helps.

Thanks!

I am not a student, just a GT parent. But I know one senior who started out in BME and switched to chemical engineering and chemical engineering is a lot harder than BME. BME requires only one semester of organic chemistry, some mechanical engineering, some electrical engineering and physiology classes. It seems ideal for a premedical student. You will learn to problem solve
and also get exposed to how engineers work on prosthetics and artificial tissue research and other really cool research work. Also, I know a doctor in Denver who was a biology major at GT then got right into all her medical schools and got a great job. I think GT is good path to med school, as now many kids there want to go to med school? Not too many so you will totally stand out. You can always switch to chemistry or biology if you do not want to take the EE or mechanical engineering classes.

There seems to be options at pharmaceutical companies:
