Hi i was accepted to washu and i was wondering if any students in the engineering school could shed some light on their experiences with this major. I understand the major is extremely difficult. But could someone give me some advice? How does it affect you're social lives? etc etc

thank you so much

I’m in my freshmen year, so I can’t offer that much insight.
However, at least as a freshmen you can have a perfectly normal social life. BME 140 (the fall intro class) has killer problem sets, but if you stick with it and find a good group to work with, it’s not all that bad.
As with the school as a whole, I’ve noticed that the bme’s tend to be divided into two groups- the social ones who like to go out and party/ whatever on the weekends, and the very unsocial ones (I’ve seen people willingly do problem sets at 11 on a Saturday night even though the problem set wasn’t due for a full week).

thank you for your response. ive been doing physics problems for a kid thats a sophomore now at Johns Hopkins cuz i took physics B. My main concern is with tests and such, is it difficult to do well/succeed in comparison to others? like is it where u need to study so much and u need to basically fight to do well aka curve break and such? I am not cut throat and while i can be extremely cut throat if needed i like to be chill and relax. i just wanna do well and have a good time as well

Everyone I know is VERY chill. While there is competitiveness, it’s competitive against yourself. People tend to work together and I’ve never had a problem asking for help (my chem grade last semester was saved by a friend who helped me study- lol).

Cut-throat is not at all a definition one could use for WashU.
