BME: UMD or Rutgers?

I got accepted into Rutgers and denied from UMD but I could go to Towson for a year and transfer. But UMD is closer to home and has an architecture program incase I wanted to switch majors. I like the fact that Rutgers is close to NYC but it's kinda far from home and I don't know how I'll adjust. And I don't like the fact that UMD tries to kick you out of the dorms junior year. But which school is better in terms of their biomedical engineering program?

How much more would you spend out of pocket for Rutgers vs. your Towson/UMD option?
I’m not familiar with either school’s BME program, but for any engineering, you should go with the cheaper option…especially if one is significantly cheaper.

Also, it seems like you’re on the fence about engineering anyways…Towson would allow you to test the waters before transferring.

I’d be paying about 10,000-15,000 more a year if I went to Rutgers. Which is another reason why I’m leaning more toward transferring from towson to UMD. And you’re right about me being on the fence about what I want to do. For the past few months I’ve been into architecture but before this school year I always had a passion for Biology. But now that I’ve gotten denied from UMD I’m trying to work myself into liking Biomed. I’m so confused, I don’t what I want anymore! Which is another reason why it’d be good for me to go to UMD. But I hate how UMD kicks you out of dorms junior year, and I’m not to fond of the idea of going to Towson, and it’s probably good that I get away from the same people from high school and meet some new people (in jersey perhaps?). But then again Jersey’s kinda far and I don’t know how I’d cope because I’m a big baby. Dude, I’m so lost right now…

Relax…don’t worry. Why can’t you take some Bio classes at Towson (or Rutgers) and then transfer to UMD? You don’t need to have your college career all figured out right now.

I wouldn’t worry about going to Towson…its likely a lot bigger than your high school.

Check to see if UMD has a transfer dorm.
