BME UMich vs. UMD

We have huge dilemma.
DC was accepted to several good programs ( UMD, CMU, Case and UMich)
UMD is pretty much free to us due to scholarships. (In state so no need to pay for dorm after 1 st year)
We ruled out CMU (need double engineering for BME) and Case (with half ride) due to cost and not much advantage vs free UMD.
However, after acceptance to UMich we are not sure what to do.

Do you think that UMich for 46k a year (with some scholarships) worth it compare to free UMD BioEngineering? It would be hard financially but may be possible, with work on campus, coops, study abroad, moving off campus and local CC during summer to minimize collateral damage.
We do not know much about UMich and never visited… It looks like excellent program and DC probably has credits to graduate in 3 years without coop.

No. It isn’t so much better that it is worth it for you to do something that is “hard financially”. Save your money. Go Terps!

UMD is an amazing school. UMich is amazing as well, but its not worth tens of thousands more than UMD. Go where the money is.

Anybody with Engineering background?
I appreciate views of Maryland patriots, but I would like objective picture.

My cousin went to UMD as an OOS student for engineering…went on to get his PhD at UMD as well. Loved the school and has a great career.

DC was just accept from waitlist to GaTech my alma mater! Search is over!
Go Jackets!!!

Congrats to all!
