I know the UT BME admissions are insanely hard. Supposedly 70% of the admitted are in top 3% of their class, and the other 30% are then selected based on other aspects (but they are all in top 10%).

That having been said.

I am probably barely in top 10% so i'm one of those unlucky 30%'ers. Aside from the low class rank, I think I'm decent in other aspects. My SAT is a 2300 (math 800), I'm very active in extracurriculuars, etc etc, and I'm sure my SAT II's will be higher than a 700. Does it look like I have a chance at BME?

Hey ArchonPraetor!
I was certainly not in the top 10% of my class- more like top 20%. But my SATs were very good (all my SAT IIs were 750+) and like you, I had a lot of extracurriculars. I think you have an excellent chance as your SATs are good. And being instate wont hurt .... I am an international student and I got in!
All the best.

you are talking about Biomedical Engineering right? that's a little comforting to know that you don't have to be in like...top 3% to get in. what was your SAT einman and what SAT II's did you take?

Yes I'm talking about Biomedical Engineering! I got 1470/1600 in my SATI. Took Math 2C, Chem, Bio, Writing and Physics for SAT IIs. Btw I got only 740 in Math 2C.

thanks much Einman. anyone else have any input?
