Boarding in the Mid-West

I was just wondering if there were any "2nd tier" boarding schools in the Mid-West. By second tier, I mean not as well known as, say, Andover or Exeter.

Western Reserve, Culver, Cranbrook, Interlochen, Lake Forest to name a few.

Try this

Cranbrook! It’s set in the beautiful city and Bloomfield Hills, and it has a gorgeous campus and great academics. Mitt Romney actually went there, haha.
Lake Forest is also a great school. It’s near Chicago and sends it’s students to very nice universities. Of course these aren’t the only ones out there, but you couldn’t go wrong with either of these two schools. I know someone who got into Cranbrook on an almost full ride (almost unheard of there) for cello!
Good luck!
-Midwestern girl here (going to Exeter though)
P.S. Going on boarding school review will be helpful so I suggest you take some time to check it out :)

Hey this seems like a nice school and it has rolling admissions if you’re interested.

Hi, I grew up in Lake Forest and played at the Academy Ice rink for local hockey comps and went to a camp there during the summer where I stayed in dorms. The school is generally considered as a great school and many of my friends go there and love it. Unless you’re trying to play hockey, you can really do any sport that you’d like. The campus isn’t very big and the main academic building is gorgeous. Lake Forest is generally a 2nd tier school. The town of Lake Forest is what I can attest to the most. Uptown is somewhat expensive in terms of clothing shops but theres not too many in town. We aren’t in the middle of nowhere and have many different stores. Market Square is essentially the town center where me and my friends would hang out during middle school. There’s a few shops there, mostly clothing for the snobby new money mothers who drive Range Rovers, but there are some shops that are old and ingrained in our towns history. The town overall is a very beautiful place and you’re steps away from the lake and 45 minutes from Chicago. Lake Forest is very safe and Lake Forest is a good bet. If you have any questions don’t be afraid to ask.
