Boarding School Applicants for 2014-15 School Year

L’ville is amazing. I got to spend the whole day there because I know someone who goes there and everyone was so nice! It also gives me more of a “high school” feeling than the rest of the boarding schools do, probably because it’s bigger.

Hi! Just saw your previous comment about watching the Deerfield admission’s video like 15 times. Haha me too! Good to see someone as obsessed as I am

@M10anticipation It’s the best school video I’ve seen! It makes it look so fun and I can really see myself there. Good luck!! I hope we both get in

I hope we all get into any one of them. I’d be so relieved, no matter what school it is.

I think my stomach can handle pretty much anything now due to all of that flipping and twisting and tightening.

^^^ Agreed. No matter which school I get in to (if I even get in one) I’ll be so thankful no matter what. Frankly, when March 10 passes I’ll be relieved, unless I have to wait for April 10.

Haha imagine getting put on the waitilist.

My D applied to Cate and St. Paul’s. Any of you from the West Coast? I hear applicant numbers were up everywhere this year. 625 for 9th grade at Cate.

DS applied to Cate and Thacher, although we are from the East Coast so I don’t hear much about application numbers this far away! When we toured both schools, the majority of the applicant families that we met were not from California. Mostly southerners (NC, TX, FL etc.) Good luck to your daughter!

@mrnephew I don’t need to imagine being put on the waitlist. I’ve already been there :))

AND IT’S TERRIBLE. DON’T WISH IT UPON YOUR WORST ENEMIES. Unless they did something really terrible.

Haha it must be like the period from Feb to March except longer…

And worse. And less there are fewer spots. And there’s more hope to be stomped on, shredded, and destroyed by the letter that says “We will not be taking anyone off the waitlist this year”.

That is miserable.

Now that we are almost down to 2 days, I swear I get dizzy just at the mention of M10th… Today at lacrosse practice I was spacing in and out, apparently I went into a total shut down and during shuttles I sort of blanked out and everyone was screaming my name. It wasn’t until someone decided to throw a lacrosse ball at my back… I just want these 59 hours (9 am) to pass by but at the same time I’m completely mortified.

That’s how I feel. Blanking out completely at times…

@teenwithadream, thanks for the detailed response! How you feel about Deerfield is exactly how I feel about Andover :D

When I went to Deerfield, it just didn’t really feel right for me.

Same here! Kindred spirits…

What was your top choice again?

Lawrenceville and Loomis are tied. How about you?

Andover all the way for me! I wasn’t able to visit Lawrenceville while they were in session, and basically wandered around an empty campus.

Andover’s one of my top choices too. But I just connected really well with those two schools.
