I am currently a freshman at one of the best private schools in the south.

I have mostly grades in the A range where a B or C is considered decent at my school. I have a B in precalculus (skipped 2 grades in math) and am taking AB or BC calc next year.

I am a three season athlete and a competitive violin player and hold multiple leadership positions at my school.

What are my chances for any boarding school? Any reccomendations for boarding schools? (I only know Exeter Andover Deerfield)

Is it difficult to obtain a scholarship?
Thank you so much!!

In order to get a good sense of your standing, you’d need to supply a little more info, like test scores and other statistics. Otherwise, I’d say you’re a pretty competitive applicant thus far. And financial aid from the schools (no merit-based scholarships) you’re looking at is relatively generous, although it is somewhat more difficult to apply as a financial-aid applicant than as a full-pay student. It certainly depends on how much you’re seeking.

Would you be applying for the 11th grade? If so, feel free to contact me - I applied to the same three boarding schools and will be attending Andover in the fall as a new upper.

Financial aid will certainly hinder the ease of your acceptances, but it is in no way a set-in-stone chance. There aren’t very many ‘scholarships’ but generous financial aid instead. You’ll need to take the SSAT and see how you score, as well as think about your hook. Whether you’re an URM/ORM will factor in too. Good luck!

Yes. Very much so.
