From my other post to you:

Make sure you show your passion for the Violin, that is probably your major hook. They will look at the whole profile and your amazing talent with music will likely make up for your low SSAT score.

Remember if you have such a passion in the arts Andover may (or may not) be the best option. I highly suggest you look at Interlochen, one of the best Art Prep Schools. They have high matriculation to Eastman along with other top schools.

The reason I say this is looking at what you have given us your passion seems to be in the arts. Andover has an amazing Arts program but it academics is the main focus, all top boarding schools will have these programs but it is not their focus.

I do not know the exact numbers but the majority of the differential spending of the boarding school per pupil (cost on school per pupil - cost of attendance) is mostly towards academics whereas Interlochen will focus a lot on academics but a lot more on arts as compared with Andover.

At Andover you seem to have a good chance, but it all depends on if they want a Violin prodigy. Bring up that you sang in a elite group at one of the GREATEST conventions in history but again "hooks" depend on what they need. Maybe take another SSAT and show them that you are top of the top as well...

Good luck

Oh and do not send in a 23 ACT unless you took it a while back, while it can't hurt you it just is not top enough...

Good Luck.

Your violin makes up for your somewhat under par SSAT scores and grades (the margin between A and B+ is quite big fyi). However, violin is probably one of the most popularly played instruments among applicants.

All I can say is I'm glad we're not applying to the same schools! If I were an adcom, I'd be interested in you.

In an uber competitive private school there is a difference between A and B+ etc. In an inflation bloated school it honestly does not matter, SSAT tells them what they need to know.
