You'll probobly be able to get into Kent with those scores. Williston and Exeter, I don't know about. You have pretty good chances at Hotchkiss, but it is extremely competative.

Loomis Chaffee, you will probobly get in, but get a good tour an interview first. I personally didn't like it at all, but everyone likes different schools.

I don't know how anyone can say with any certainty when I student will be admitted by simply knowing their statistics. About the only thing one can say with any certainty is what school probably wouldn't consider them. For instance, "I'm a c student at a mediocre public school in New England, not involved any EC, needing financial aid, hate sports and have a 50% on ssat after three tries. Do you think I'll get into Exeter????" Uh......probably not.

1: Schools are able to see through community service, they are usually able to tell if there is passion there or if you are doing it for your own benefit.

Get involved with a cause that means something to you. That way in the interview you explain why you volunteered for group x and how you felt you made a difference.

There is a big difference in being interested, and being involved. Are you involved with any math teams, literature clubs/groups?

Sorry, I didn't mean to be negative. I understand that it is important to have a positive attitude. I guess my point is that a seemingly perfect candidate on paper may not be offered admission for reasons that have nothing to do with him/her. There are probably minimal standards to meet for each school to even have a shot at it...to keep one "in the running", so to speak; but beyond that, it's anyone's guess. I try to keep that in the back of my mind so that, come March 10th, we will be better prepared to accept whatever comes our way.

Neato, I didn't think you were being negative, you were spot on.

wetwinz120, there have been many students who have posted on this board with far more impressive stats and been rejected by a variety of schools. Can you get it to the schools you have listed? Nothing you have shown us tells us you can't. But by no means does that mean you will.

Williston-Safety
Hotchkiss- Slightest Reach (Everyone is, you would need an alum to be a match or safety)
Exeter- Slight Reach
Loomis- High Safety/Low Match
Kent- High Safety/Low Match

I don't usually contribute to these "chances" threads, but I think I will jump in briefly here. Exeter and Hotchkiss reject 80% of the applicants. In other words, 4 out of 5 people will NOT be admitted, despite many of them being wonderfully qualified. I think they really have to be considered "reach" schools for almost everyone.

I totally agree. All of those schools are so hard to get into, that their acceptance rates are mirroring (if thats a word lol) a lot of the elite colleges, including the Ivy's.

We mean Hotchkiss, Exeter, Andover, Deerfield. And that statement you made sounded very ignorant, so make sure you make your statements a little more polite. For that matter, Williston and Kent are very good schools and hard to get into for many kids.
