I hope not. Other Schools that I got accepted to I haven't recieved the letter yet... they called me. Does anyone here know anything about this?

27k is quite the sweet deal. Andover basically gave me what I needed in relation to what my parents would pay, and St. Paul's gave a lot more than what I needed.

St. Paul's gave me just the right amound, but I'm trying to see if I can get Andover to match St. Paul's. I'm sorta favoring Andover now. The prestige is taking over my brain, and that's not why I want to make my decision.

Like I said, revisit the schools, weigh each schools pros and cons, and then go with your instinct.

Esa I'm in the EXACT same situation. I really loved St. Paul's, and they gave me just the right amount; however, I keep thinking about how a scholarship looks on the CV, and how Andover's prestige would affect college admissions. Anyone know if Andover is flexible and will meet St. Paul's amount (its about a 10k difference) :S ?

I hope they will.

Who interviewed you at Andover/St. Paul's/anywhere else?

congrats esa.

congrats sleft, that a aht trich, eh

esa, buddy your'e working on the hat trick. that $$$ being just right from st paul's, says pick me!

sky, not stupid at all, not knwing you is beside the point, your'e A ok!

sleft, my typing is off tonight. let me try that again, HAT TRICK! EH!

St. PAul's has almost as good of a rep. as Andover. Basically any of the top 10 boarding school's name will have nearly equal effect, especially St. Paul's and Andover.

I am sure that Andover will be slightly flexible with the FA, though I doubnt they will meet the whole $10,000 difference.

hehe, thanks!

I know some of my friends had good experiences with the Andover FA office. One of my friends had a 20k scholarship, managed to bump it up 6 grand! Not bad for a couple weeks of haggling.

I hope so. Yeah, I don't expect to get as much as at St. Paul's, but even half way would be a nice break for my parents.

I think I'll bring the amount up to my first interviewer at the time of secondary visits. Supposing, that is, I decide to follow through with the school as my prime choice. Would that be a bad idea or feasible?

Guys- see my boarding school chat thread

Do you think Andover will bump me up from 6000 to 2000?

No idea. Guess we'll just have to wait and see to find out, sadly :(

What do you do to haggle aid?

let them know what you recieved from st. paul's and ask if there is anyway they can match the offer. tell them that they are your first choice, and that financialy, as per your parents you will fall short. this seems staright forward and honest. good luck! if st. paul's is offering you that much more, they want you that much more. remember you sent your fa packet to the same place in jersey, the school then makes the final decision. imho, the offer is comensuarte with how bad they want you.
