Boarding School Results

Yeah. The way I see it, financial aid is need based in TWO ways; how much you need the money, and how much the school needs you. I'm hoping St. Paul's amount will make Andover question my "value" and hopefully be a little more generous hehehe.

Yeah, sleft you and i really think alike.

hey guys congrats on your accpetances and god luck to you all who havent heard yet. for all of you who got into st pauls, i am a student there right now (on spring break woooo) and if you have eny questions at all please dont hesitate my email is heartinsf@gmail.com

id love to hear from you

-Roxanne

Thanks for the help Rox. I'll be sure to let you know.

p.s. esa we DO think alike

So,sleft, rank your school favorites with 1 being your favorite.

Can't honestly (and fairly) do that until after secondary visits...I know I'd be happy anywhere to tell you the truth. How about you?

Esa, I don't mean to get personal or anything, but for the Andover financial aid, how much did you say your family could pay for?

haha sorry to post again, but i am just so in love with sps. it is one of the best things that has happened to me. even with everything that happened earlier this year, i love it. its just such a strong community. after reading your posts, i just had to say that i love st pauls. i had to choose between 5 schools and i really am 100% secure and more than satisfied with my decision.

email me, im on spring break and all my friends are in school so i have a lot of time on my hands....

I love St. Paul's too...I think I'm just trying to get over some superficial "prestige" issues in my head, to overcome my second thoughts on it.

Sleft, no love for Andover?

you guys/gals are tripping, "prestige" give me a break!!!!! st. paul's is not chopped liver.

no! I love Andover too! Can't decide :S

I was waitlisted at Exeter and accepted at Choate and Lawrenceville.
Lawrentian 2008!
But I'm still going for the waitlist at Exeter. My parents are planning to accept the waitlist and pay the deposit for Lawrenceville... so there's a chance that by like June or something I'll be accepted into Exeter. Means I have to forfeit the deposit, but doesn't really matter.

Waitlists suck. You never know where you stand on it.

Same thing, I can't seem to rank them. We said about $1000 because my brother is going to college next year and my mom is a single parent.

I got my results online because I'm international. (I'm from NYC, but living currently in Rome, Italy.)

I got into Exeter, my first choice school, so I'm very ecstatic. It was quite apparent to me from the beginning that Exeter was a "right" fit; I fell in absolute love. So, yes, I'm very glad.

Tara, that's awesome! you go girl/guy!

ajadedidealist, congrats to you!

congrats tara. but at least you wern't flat out rejected.

Sleft

St. Paul's is every bit as prestigious as Andover, if not more so, but they are two very different schools. Take advantage of the revisit days at both schools and go with your gut instinct.

How long do you think Exeter's waitlists usually are?

Tappingprep- saw your post on another thread- if you want to take today off, why not...you have nothing to be ashamed of, but I understand not wanted to answer questions. Many people have NO idea how tough some of the schools are to get into. There are just too many applicants for to few spots. It is hard to say why you weren' t picked. You sound great here. Just remember, after about a day, no one will even think about where you are going to school and what happened with your applications. They will all get back to thinking about other things: themselves. My daughter studied for a YEAR for an academic decatholon team, every year the team came in first, her team came in 7th. She went to school, everyone asked and believe it or not, everyone was very very nice and kind about it. After a day, it was all in the past.

She went on to place 2nd the next year....so don't give up hope and when my kids are discouraged by not be recognized for their talens,e tc, they do better to prove those people wrong. Use this to motivate you to be even better than you are...
