Well, I'm going to be sharing my personal supplies list soon. It'll probably be in oddly organized categories and very random, but this isn't really like the Ultimate Boarding School Supplies List thread... This is more just me, sharing my list, and seeing if anyone has any ideas, and maybe you guys will get some ideas from me?

Yep. So, that's forthcoming today. My mom's actually been pressing me to make a list, which is surprising!

(This is my personal list, and I’m a girl, so… I’ll be willing to bet you guys out there will have a LOT LESS stuff…)

Bedding:
-twin size comforter
-twin sheets set
-1 pillow and case
-3 bath towels
-1 beach towel

Bath and Toiletries:
-shower caddy
-shower puff/luffa thingy
-shampoo and conditioner
-body wash
-face wash
-razor and replacement razor heads
-shaving cream
-acne treatment/wash
-moisturizer
-face moisturizer
-makeup remover
-toothbrush
-toothpaste
-cotton pads
-tissues
-deodorant
-body spray
-hair ties
-hair brush/comb
-contacts and contact solution
-makeup (which gets its own separate list for me, but I won’t subject you to it)
-chapstick

Anyone have ideas/suggestions/etc for me? We’re going to be slowly buying things that I don’t already have on this list… The plan is that every time we go to Walmart (which is usually once every week or so) I am allowed to buy $20 worth of boarding school supplies, or one big purchase (like bedding or something). That’ll make it much easier on my mom, a teacher, than if we spent hundreds the week before I leave.

Yeah, I’ve learned there are 3 major categories for snack foods: sugary (like Sour Patch kids), carb/substantial (crackers and chips), and dried fruit (protects against scurvy!)

Thanks Too much stuff would stink… Too bad I won’t know if I’m a single or double until I get there. I’m going to bring a printer and other stuff anyway, so I can just send it back with my mom if my roommate has one.

Like I said, this is my specific list for myself, and I’m just looking for suggestions or just sharing with people who might have a hard time with their own list. This isn’t the be-all-end-all list or anything even close to that, haha, just me being random and bored on a Sunday. But yeah, it’s also my wishlist, the MacBook and Blackberry are my going away gifts :)

nice list!
im not sure what im going to do about my nice jewelry. i love wearing it, but i dont want it to get lost/taken. i like the sound of the lockbox… how much do they generally cost?

and is anyone else bringing a comfy chair or piece of furniture? is it worth it?

A cheap Target or Walmart lock box (also called a security box, a cash box, etc.) can be around $20 or even less, depending on how crazy you are about security measures. I think in the boarding school world, a metal box with a simple key or coded lock will be more than enough to deter any school-age thieves.

Edit: I love presents The big ones are the laptop and the cell phone, but mostly everything I don’t already have is like a giant present from my mom. :)

Saer, I’m hopong for a macbook too! I’m definitely getting a laptop, but whether it’s a mac or not all depends on what my parents are willing to buy!

just some specifics (bored), because I feel like it:
-(fake) tiffany lamp (apparently lava lamps are fire hazards, so I’m going with my second favorite)
-PB Star Wars bedding (!)
-dreamcatcher
-possibly an egg chair or something cool like that- I’m scoping garage sales, resale shops, and kijiji

MOST things (power strip, school supplies, storage/organizational items, etc.) I’m buying at the nearest Target because I really dont feel like shipping it ALL the way to Boston.

I looove Macbooks. My mom bought one a few months ago, the new one (the $1300 version) and I’m getting the upgrade, the $1500 version, because she promised. She told me, “Well, seeing as I don’t have to pay any tuition, I guess I can get you a nice laptop”.

Thank you for reminding me, siliconvalley! I DO need a camera, pretty badly.

completely random question: how does one obtain coffee? I know they probably have it in the dining hall, but would there be a coffee maker in the dorm kitchen?
