Wondering if anyone has either direct experience or even anecdotal knowledge of schools that will work with students that struggle with foreign language and executive function. Post or PM much appreciated!

Loomis was waiving foreign language a few years ago (foreign culture could substitute if eval suggested need).

They still are.

NMH also provides waivers.

Groton is just the opposite. My son has to take both a modern language and Latin.

Latin requirement: one of the reasons Groton was crossed of my list :)

You could have taken Greek instead of Latin! :))

True, but classical languages was not/is not in my group of subjects to learn. :)

I don’t know if you still need information on this, buy my son attends the Blue Ridge School and they are very equipped to deal with executive function issues. He is eligible for a foreign language waiver (and they do grant them if necessary) but he was encouraged to try Spanish again there before applying and he is really doing well at it. They have small classes and very involved teachers, so it’s been much easier for him to learn.

I ditto what BSboymom said. My dd is eligible for a waiver but we were encouraged to give it a try and she just finished this trimester with an A in her Spanish class. Her current Spanish teacher is so much better than the one in her old elementary school. GL
