Boardwalk Frolic!

Anyone going to this year's Boardwalk Frolic? They basically close the (world famous!) Beach Boardwalk down for the night to only UCSC students. It's on September 20, and tickets are $20.

I want to go, but my roommate is a poopyhead and doesn't want to come (I kid, he's cool). I want to drag him down with me.

Im planning on going! To whoever has gone, is it a fun event?

I went last year, but I don’t know if I’ll go again this year (still trying to get my friends to decide). It was pretty fun. Some of the rides were closed, but the Giant Dipper was open, so that was good. (: Also, getting there by bus is a pain…the buses fill up and you have to wait for a loooong time to get one and go down…then you have to wait even longer to get one back up to campus. D: But I’d say for $20, it’s worth it. As long as you have some friends (or new floormates!) to go with, you’ll have a good time. Bring extra money for deep fried twinkies and the most garlic-y garlic fries you will ever encounter.

I went in fall 2008 and it was really fun because I went with a huge group of friends. There’s also massive parties that go on off-campus that day, so if you have any connections then you might have a great time afterwards as well.

The only warning I have is getting there/back. Getting there wasn’t too bad because I think they had special buses that went from campus to the Boardwalk, but going back was HORRIBLE (probably because we tried to go back late). The line was ridiculous and we would have ended up waiting for hours to get back. However this was a few years ago and they may have fixed the logistical problems now (or at least made it better). We ended up walking all the way to our party and that was near the base of campus. It really made for some memorable times freshman year, though.
