I just got on these forums to see how anxious people, how calm they are and what not and so far I've seen two I got in posts. Does anyone else besides me think that this is all fake?
UF is not a rolling school like USF or UCF, they have a set date on when they will release their the data of who got in, who didn't get in. I'm wondering, are people making this up just for attention or what?

The Office of Admissions has completed a preliminary review of your application for admission.

Please look at the tables below to determine whether your application file is complete. Missing materials can delay your admission notification. If you have recently sent these materials, please allow processing time, especially around application deadlines; materials sent by regular mail take a minimum of two-to-three weeks' processing time. Check your application status as often as you need to verify receipt of materials.

No one made this up. I checked yesterday and it said I got in. Then I checked 20 minutes later and it was back to the "the office of admissions has completed a preliminary review of your application, etc." thing that had been up there since November. I called Criser Hall and they said there was a glitch in the system, but they wouldn't tell me if the decisions that appeared were the correct ones or not.

I got the exact same thing. You'd have to really be out for attention to have so many people just make this up. I certainly have better things to do, like trying to decide between UF and Michigan for Engineering. That's hard enough without worrying about some childish post faking an acceptance.

ks1615, I am a parent who on Wednesday found the website status was showing my D's decision. I immediately called and spoke with an Adcom we have a rapport with. Yes it was an error, no it wasn't made up. They weren't aware of the glitch and quickly took the decisions down once they were made aware.

Listen to SSobick. Dude knows everything there is to know about everything and will tell you so! He's an activist that posts on boards designed for kids and he doesn't even work in admissions. but he knows everything! He loves UF!

I am actually out of state for both schools (live in Virginia) but it doesn't matter because I will be on a Navy ROTC scholarship. My dad graduated from UF so I grew up loving the Gators but the fact is that Michigan is the 3rd ranked school in the country in my particular major (Aerospace Engineering). It's a hard decision.

Why would being a Gator fan even be part of the equation? I personally like the Steelers, but I'm not going to take a job in Pittsburgh just because they play football in that city. I don't get the connection 2009grad.

Ummm... your brain is flawed. Picking a school because you want to watch 18-22 year olds play a sport wearing a specific color and logo is retarded. I'm pretty sure Michigan has a football team too. I think their stadium might even be a tad bit larger than UF's. If you don't believe me look it up.

My God, gatorend, you have to be the most annoying poster I've seen on this site yet. My point was simply that, because my dad went to school here and we went to a lot of games, I have spent a lot of time on the campus and I am very comfortable with it, along with the school atmosphere. You are right that one of the things about Michigan is that, not only is Ann Arbor supposed to be a terrific college town with an awesome campus, but their students are also crazy about their school sports. I don't think I'll have any problem fitting n at either school.

Troll:2. An individual who chronically trolls in sense 1; regularly posts specious arguments, flames or personal attacks to a newsgroup, discussion list, or in email for no other purpose than to annoy someone or disrupt a discussion. Trolls are recognizable by the fact that the have no real interest in learning about the topic at hand - they simply want to utter flame bait. Like the ugly creatures they are named after, they exhibit no redeeming characteristics, and as such, they are recognized as a lower form of life on the net, as in, "Oh, ignore him, he's just a troll."

2009Grad...you have a tough choice to make, but you can't really go wrong. It is true Michigan is higher ranked for engineering, but in my view the difference is not meaningful for an undergraduate education. For aerospace in particular, you will need to continue on to grad school regardless, and UF will get you into any program you care to pursue if you do well. I might mention, however, that you consider mechanical for your BS, with some Aero electives...it will give you a few more options if you don't want to go to grad school. Good luck to you!

I agree with rogracer. I can assure you that if you get good grades in engineering at UF, you will get employed anywhere and/or will get accepted to any grad school. UF's engineering is very very well respected in the US.

Thank you both for your comments. It is a really hard choice. I am going to try to do a lot of research over the next week or two and make a decision. Lucky for me, there is no bad choice here.
