I am trying to find more information on BSU. I have read a lot of reviews online, and they seem mixed. I know that the school has a well known football team, but I am more concerned about the academics. I have seen reviews from later years that it is a commuter school, I am thinking this has changed over time? Does anyone know anything about the school? I have already applied for fall 2016 and am going to apply to the honors college soon. Any knowledge of the school is appreciated. Thanks!
I don’t know much about it but here is some data, this may be a year in arrears. Yes looks like a commuter school but if there isn’t a lot of on campus housing then students may live in the immediate area on their own. Looks like a typical regional state U, well priced, many practical majors like nursing. Honors college sounds like a plan.

It is a fine school that attracts kids from all over the West. Boise itself is an acquired taste. I’ve traveled there for business quite a bit and a couple of colleagues are adjunct faculty for the Biz program. I know families with kids who love it - and others who left quickly.
Lots of hunting/fishing/outdoors, occasional snow, HOT, sometimes smokey summers and a much more conservative political climate than California. Many transplants from here find a bit of a culture shock.
Where are you now? What are your qualifications, budget and interests?
I attend Boise State. It is definitely a commuter college in the sense that people drive daily from all around the Treasure Valley to attend. However, there is a lot of on-campus housing, and a ton of students live in the immediate area. surrounding the college. The university just built BSU owned student housing right off campus. A ton of it. Attendance is 40,000+ at least. Also, check out the boise green belt, which runs along the river right behind the campus, and to almost everywhere else in the city. Bsu is a bicycle friendly campus. Good luck.
The reviews aren’t great, maybe a bit under average.

It seems like a decent school, although the graduation rate is pretty low.
@newjerseygirl98 decent schools have at least an 80% retention rate. Boise State is average, if not below average.
Academically, it serves its purpose as a regional state university–is it great----probably not.
