Boise State University

What are your opinions on Boise State University? How into football are they and how much into school spirit are they? Those are two important factors because my major (history) is pretty much at every college. Additionally, what about Greek Life? I am interested in Greek Life. It would be much appreciated if anyone that goes to the school or has gone to the school would share their input. Thank you !!

My kid just finished her freshman year there. School spirit is strong and football is definitely a part of that - the city as a whole supports the Broncos. I would say Greek life is adequate, but not top level by any means.
She definitely liked it there and was disappointed to have to come home early. She looks forward to going back.

I realize this is a year later, but do you feel like it a commuter school.?
Thanks.

I would say BSU splits the difference between a commuter school and a typical college, but it is by no means a “college town.” First of all, Boise is a city, a small to medium sized city, but a city nonetheless. With that said, the city supports BSU pretty strongly - you see Bronco gear everywhere. Also, and I have witnessed this firsthand, the downtown gets pretty crazy on weekends and especially on football weekends. The school has a nice blend of collegiate atmosphere, urban feel, outdoor activities and friendliness. There are a lot of people who commute in to BSU though; they don’t have a lot of other options because Boise is one of the most isolated cities in the continental USA.
