bombed math ---> still apply for wharton??

I did some stupid stuff last year and ended up with a B+ in math. in CANADIAN math so that was a 78. Should I bother applying to wharton? i'm very passionate about business and it's what I want to study but I'm not a very strong math student.

720 on SATI math =/
have yet to do SAT II (will do in January)

Also, no AP/Honours/IB courses offered in my school which doesnt help at all. All my other courses are decent.

I heard that I can transfer into Wharton after first year at Penn, is that true?

I don’t know anything about Wharton admissions & math, but I know that you need a 3.8 or above to transfer into Wharton once you’re at Penn. It’s REALLY competitive. Apply to Wharton if you want to go to Wharton.

i dont think 720 is a bad score for wharton…
and you can transfer to wharton after the first year, however, from what i heard, it’s really hard to transfer.

It’s so frustrating because really, why do we even need calculus in business anyways? I’m sure everyday business math is much simpler. I wish I was a natural at math! :(

^Stochastic calculus is used in many parts of finance - modeling markets, pricing derivatives, etc.

^yeah. calculus is incredibly useful in pretty much everything.

I still think you should go for it because applying as a transfer student is much more difficult than applying as a first year student.

also, how on earth if you get a B+ is that considered bombing math?!?!

i’m pretty sure 78 translate into a C+. You cannot go by the Ontario grading system where 80+ is an A. That’s what my GC told me and i’m from Canada too. Penn will see you your number grade, not your letter grade.

you’re better off not trying to transfer from CAS. that requires taking Math 104, and if you got a 78 in your high school math class and 720 on SAT math, there is no way in hell that you will do well in Math 104.

If you want Wharton, apply to Wharton. It’s just that simple.
